Rooted Psychotherapy takes its’ name from nature and connecting with your roots is at the heart of my work. The word psychotherapy literally means ‘healing of the self’. At Rooted we will work to reconnect you with who you are, we will build strong foundations for your relationships, grow to love your identity/culture/roots, re-rooting your beliefs, regrow a sense of belonging, build confidence, courage, and rework the purpose and meaning in your life.
Pain knows no boundaries and it does not discriminate. It runs through all societies, cultures, classes and identities; and because of this I believe everyone deserves a judgement free space to release their worries, no matter how big or small they may feel.
As a mixed race person, I believe acknowledging the uniqueness of each person’s identity is a crucial block in understanding how they have come to be. It's a cyclical relationship and worthy of exploration as this process can sometimes lead to distortions and can cause confusion.
I believe our roots are our stability, they offer us grounding and keep us anchored through hard times. When our roots are strong and stable they allow us to grow, explore and play but sometimes we lose connection with them and we become lost, stuck, and fearful.
Whilst digging into ourselves is one route to reaching our potential, it’s not the only way. In order to fully flourish, it can help to explore the impact of our surroundings through therapy too. This might include the impact of networks, what people are consuming both in their diet and through the consumption of media, as well as the potential impact of disconnection to nature.
